Accessibility statement
CheerDeck should be usable by everyone who runs, judges, coaches at or watches a competition — on a laptop, a tablet, a phone or the big screen at the venue.
Our standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA across every app and public page.
- Everything works with a keyboard, with visible focus.
- Status is never shown by colour alone — pills carry words and icons.
- Text and controls meet at least 4.5:1 contrast, including producers’ own brand colours (the colour picker refuses pairs that don’t).
- Touch targets on tablets and phones are at least 44 × 44 pixels.
- Live updates (running order, sync status) are announced to screen readers without moving focus.
- The venue screen uses very large text, and the awards reveal has a reduced-motion mode.
- Nothing needs to be installed: the apps work in the browser, with the device’s own screen reader and zoom.
How we test
- Automated accessibility checks (axe) run on every screen in our end-to-end test suite before releases.
- Before each release we check with the screen readers built into devices: VoiceOver on iPad and Mac, TalkBack on Android and Narrator on Windows.
Known limitations
- Drag-and-drop in the running-order builder has keyboard alternatives (move up/down and swap buttons), which can be slower for long schedules.
- Printed score sheets and paper fallback lists are designed for sighted reading; the same information is available on screen.
- Producers’ own uploaded logos may lack a text alternative; the producer’s name is always shown next to them.
